About Me

Welcome to the blog of Brittney Combs Photography. You will soon feast your eyes upon my work; let the feelings associated with it engulf your thoughts. The purpose of my photography is to make the viewer experience the piece in an emotional way and make a connection with it, positive or negative. I focus on gallery-style work, such as abstracts, as well as a more photo-journalistic style of portraiture and narration of society. I also do clientele work as commissioned, for example, family portrait sessions and senior portraits. Currently I am a student at Columbus College of Art and Design in my Sophomore year pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Art degree in Photography - minoring in Fine Arts.

Artist Statement

My photography strongly shows a wide variety of powerful themes and contains complex artistic plays with foreground, background, contrast, perspective and angle. Each piece tells a story and speaks for itself. Through their manifestation do they explain myself as a photographer, fine artist, and designer.

I feel an image should provoke a feeling; it should inspire and trigger something very deep within the observer. Photography expresses the artist’s view of the world, but within that lies a completely new world for the observer to experience. When people look at my work I want them to be able to discover their own meaning for it. I desire for viewers to have a feeling instilled inside them from each piece.

There is no better medium to describe myself other than art of photography; the creativity must come from within. Being so, it is my source of inner happiness, artistic expression, and personal inspiration. My fascination with photography sparked at a young age when I would take my father’s camera on walks to photograph the amazing wonders of nature and the world unfolding around me. I soon began to express myself behind the lens at every given moment. Photography has since become an extension of inner self and emotion, allowing me to portray meanings beyond words. I am currently pursuing a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography at CCAD and a following career. As evident, I wish to have photography be a part of my entire life and always continue to express my self creatively and uniquely.
