Creative Habit - Post One

I began my creative habit process by meeting with Station 1 Firehouse, 2 Unit with Capt. Lewis.

I'm focusing on doing a photo essay of firehouse life and the brotherhood within. I have already gone through a small process of editing through the hundreds of pictures I have taken, but for the final they will be edited down even more.

Amazingly enough, this is the station closest to CCAD, which is very interesting - the guys know campus very well, mainly being Schottenstein burnt popcorn alarms!

They work in 24-hour shits, going 24 hours on 48 hours off. This leaves plenty of time for group cooking!

How many men does it require to dry dishes?

I was given a tour of the apparatus bay, where all the trucks are kept. It was quite an impressive line-up for being one of Columbus's 32 departments.

Meet "giggles", a 2.5 year 'proby' that was assigned to show me the ways, mainly because we both were from the Toledo area and that he is probationary so he must do everything boring!

The guys really enjoy their after-meal fellowships, keeping the sense of community and togetherness strong. This is when a lot of story-telling usually comes about.

The use a giant white board to communicate vital information between the three units, that way everyone is always up to date and informed.
